Are We There Yet? | Road Trip Essentials for Kids

I've put together some things to keep the kiddos busy on our 16 hour road trip.  I'm going to keep them hidden and when they are reaching 'freak out' mode I'll pull one out for a surprise.  Hopefully this tactic works... I'll let you know.

1. This and this will surely be a hit for my son.  Should buy me at least a couple hours of peace... I hope.

2. A travel game that I can play with him while I'm driving.  Hopefully, my toddler will enjoy the hunt as well.

3. A car adapter so they can watch DVDs on my laptop.

4. DVDs to watch.  Wibbly Pig and Little Bear are our family favorites.  Luckily, my 9-year-old will watch these as well.  I'll bring along a few of his faves (like Scooby Doo) for when his sister is asleep.

5. Stuff for drawing.  A clipboard like this one to hold a drawing pad plus Color Wonder Markers because I don't need my toddler drawing all over the interior of my car.  My son already has a ton of drawing supplies that I keep in the car.

6. A magnetic doodler for more mess-free play.

7. Flash Cards for my toddler.

8. For all the car sick complaints that I know are coming my way I'll have ol' reliable Dramamine.  Nighty-night, honey.

9. And if all else fails, I'll bribe them with lollipops.  ;)

I also checked out several kid friendly cds from the library.  I bet my hubbee will be real sad when he hears he missed out on our sing-alongs.  That was always one of my favorite memories from when I was a kid.  What do you like to do on road trips?
